Low Grade Fuel, used to power light sources.

You burn it in machines and you spend it in recipes. The minicopter, boats, the chainsaw and lanterns all run on it, while furnaces, molotovs, medical syringes and explosives each take a share at the bench. Run dry and the minicopter stays on the roof.

Even your first furnace needs fuel in its recipe, so on a fresh wipe you kill a boar for its fat, pull some hemp for cloth and craft a stack right in your inventory. Later the refinery takes over. Placing one costs a big pile of fuel itself, but it pays that back with the first load of crude from a night of barrel runs.
