Characteristics
Overview
A punchy boat engine made from scavenged parts, not good for the environment. More engines means more speed.
Speed is what you buy with it. A sail drifts along; an engine pushes, and the game's own text says every extra one adds more. That is the difference between reaching the Oil Rig ahead of the next boat and arriving on a deck someone already looted.
The price tells you where it fits in a wipe. You need a Level 2 workbench, two gears, five high quality metal and fifty low grade fuel just to build one, then more fuel to run it. A group still saving gears for its first guns should keep sailing a little longer. A spare engine gives back roughly half of its parts in the recycler, so a second one is not money thrown away.
Tip
Keep a stack of fuel in a box on deck, not back at base. An engine that runs dry halfway to an island will not bring you home, and neither will the sail you decided to skip.

Direct hit, hard side, no duds. Beancan Grenade is a dud 15% of the time. Satchel Charge is a dud 20% of the time. A range runs from point blank to the far end of the bullet's falloff, fired from an Assault Rifle.
