Light and a weak swing, same as any torch. The data on this page gives it exactly the recipe of the plain torch, one low grade fuel included, with the same durability and no bench. We have seen nothing that makes it brighter or tougher, so do not chase it expecting an upgrade.

What you get is a different shape in your hand: a caged lamp instead of a burning stick. Builders who go for a metal-and-pipes look like it, and in a torch holder by a garage door it fits better than a rag on a branch. If it is missing from your crafting menu, your account probably lacks the unlock it comes with.

If what you really wanted from a mining lamp is light without holding it, the miners hat is the item for that. It burns the same fuel and leaves both hands for a pickaxe while you farm a cave.
