Characteristics
Overview
Water. Drinking it will alleviate your thirst.
You drink it, and your crops drink it too. Thirst creeps up during a long farm run, planters dry out while you are away, and a base with water on hand saves you a lot of walking.
Fresh water comes from a few places:
- Rivers and lakes, scooped up in a water bucket or a bottle.
- A large water catcher on the roof, which collects rain and dew by itself.
- The sea, but only after a water purifier has taken the salt out.
Picture a hilltop base two grids from the nearest river. Hauling buckets up the slope gets old by day two, so you put a catcher on the roof, connect it to your planters and keep a water jug by the door for when you head out. The jug holds five litres, plenty for a long roam.
Not every water in the game helps you. What you scoop from the ocean is salty, and drinking it costs health instead of fixing thirst, so know what is in your container before you raise it.
