Overview
A Timer switch, will pass power through for duration.
Saving battery is the main reason to own one. Lights wired straight to a battery burn all night, even when nobody is home to see them. Put a timer in between and they only come on when someone asks.
The usual setup on a solar base: the battery feeds the timer's power input, a button by the airlock door feeds the input that starts it, and the timer's output runs to your ceiling lights. Press the button with E on the way in, the lights come up, and after the time you set they go dark again on their own. A small battery lasts a great deal longer that way.
Tip
The duration lives on the timer itself, not on the button. Give yourself enough time to cross the base and sort a box, or you will be pressing it twice on every trip.
Other uses follow the same shape: a light outside that only shows while you leave, or a siren that sounds for a while after a sensor trips. Wire it all with the wire tool. It costs metal fragments at a Level 1 bench.

Direct hit, hard side, no duds. Satchel Charge is a dud 20% of the time. Beancan Grenade is a dud 15% of the time. A range runs from point blank to the far end of the bullet's falloff, fired from an Assault Rifle.
