Overview
An unreliable explosive grenade. Each one has a different length fuse, so you might lose some fingers. Can be used to make satchel charges.
Sulfur in the box, a Level 1 bench and a neighbour behind a wooden door: that is the moment beancans exist for. Nobody brings them to a gunfight. They are the first explosive most groups can craft, and their job is opening cheap doors long before anyone has C4.
The cost hides in the powder. Each one eats sixty gun powder, twice what an F1 grenade takes, so a raid's worth means a long session of farming sulfur and charcoal first.
Most of them never get thrown loose. Four beancans, a rope and a small stash make a satchel charge, and that is what people actually stick on doors. Single beancans are for finishing off a door that is nearly gone, or for a throw through a window you cannot reach.
Watch out
The fuse length is random, and now and then one simply fails to go off. Never treat it as a panic grenade in a fight, and craft a couple more than you think the door needs.
