Characteristics
Overview
A tool used to make connections between electrical objects. Aim at an object and click on an input/output handle, then click on another object's input/output handle to form a connection. Holding right mouse will clear or cancel a connection.
Nothing electric in your base works until you run a line with this. A generator, a battery and a turret placed side by side do nothing; the wire is what tells power where to go. Every circuit reads the same way: a source, the wire, then whatever uses the power. Each handle on an item is either an output, where power leaves, or an input, where it arrives.
- Place the source, say a small generator, and the consumer, say the auto turret over your door.
- Hold the wire tool, aim at the source's output handle and click.
- Click on walls and ceilings along the way to pin the wire out of your path.
- Click the consumer's input handle to finish, then switch the source on.
Holding right mouse clears a wire or cancels one you are laying, so a mistake costs nothing. For more than one consumer, put an electrical branch or a splitter in between rather than hoping one output feeds everything.
Water and industrial setups follow the same click logic with their own tools: the hose tool for pumps and sprinklers, the pipe tool for conveyors and storage.
