Overview
A small rechargable battery. Must have a minimum charge of 5 seconds to discharge. Can be wired in series. Charging rate is dependant on power in, with a maximum of 80% efficiency.
Your first solar panel goes up on the roof, the sun sets, and everything inside goes dark again. This battery fixes exactly that. It sits between the panel and whatever you want lit, soaks up power while the sun is out and hands it back after dark.
It costs a handful of high quality metal and only a Level 1 workbench, so a solo can have it running on the first evening. Charge it from a large solar panel, run a second line from its output to your lights with the wire tool, and that is the whole circuit. Expect some loss: by its own description it charges at no better than 80% efficiency.
Tip
A fresh battery gives nothing until it has charged for at least five seconds, and it has to be switched on. If the lights stay dark after wiring, look at the battery before you rip out the wires.
Where it runs out is size. A couple of lamps through the night is its job; put a turret on it as well and it drains fast. Once the base grows, a medium rechargeable battery is the next step, and the small one can stay in the chain as a backup, since batteries can be wired in series.

Direct hit, hard side, no duds. Satchel Charge is a dud 20% of the time. Beancan Grenade is a dud 15% of the time. A range runs from point blank to the far end of the bullet's falloff, fired from an Assault Rifle.
