Overview
Static shutter that forms a metal vertical embrasure over your window frame.
Raiders have to stand somewhere while they place charges, and that is usually right against your wall, under your windows. A vertical embrasure is the cover for the window that looks down on that spot: the tall slit lets you angle your gun lower than the wide one, so you can hit someone crouched at the foundation and not only the field beyond.
It is the twin of the horizontal embrasure. Both need a Level 2 workbench, 100 metal fragments and 15 scrap to research, so the choice comes down to the view. Wide slit for watching an open approach, tall slit for the ground right under you and the door below.
The best spots are windows straight over your entrance and over the wall your TC sits behind, because that is where a raid group bunches up. Shots coming down from a slot overhead are a nasty surprise for a guy holding a satchel charge.
Narrow cuts both ways, though. You see less of the field, so a window facing open ground is better off with the horizontal plate. And a window you never shoot from gets sealed by metal window bars for a quarter of the fragments.

Direct hit, hard side, no duds. Satchel Charge is a dud 20% of the time. Beancan Grenade is a dud 15% of the time. A range runs from point blank to the far end of the bullet's falloff, fired from an Assault Rifle.
