Overview
Window bars made out of wood. They'll stop people climbing through your window, but probably not for very long.
On wipe day, before any bench is down, these go into your window frames so the next naked with a rock cannot just climb in while you are out farming. They cost 50 wood and no bench at all, so a starter base gets every window closed for the price of a few trees.
Even the game is honest about them: they stop climbers, probably not for long. Treat them as a speed bump that sends lazy players on to the next base, not as defence. Bars also leave gaps, so anyone outside can still shoot through at you or at whoever is sleeping inside.
Watch out
Do not forget them once the base grows. A wooden window in a stone wall stays the soft spot, and wood takes fire. Move to metal window bars the day your Level 1 workbench goes up; they cost only 25 metal fragments.
For a window you want to look and shoot out of, there is another no-bench option: wood shutters that you open and close.

Direct hit, hard side, no duds. Satchel Charge is a dud 20% of the time. Beancan Grenade is a dud 15% of the time. A range runs from point blank to the far end of the bullet's falloff, fired from an Assault Rifle.
