Overview
Metal window bars made to fit a normal sized window.
Most windows in a base need one thing: nobody climbs through them. Metal bars do that for 25 metal fragments at a Level 1 workbench, cheap enough to close every window frame on the same evening you raise the walls.
What they do not stop is bullets. The gaps let you shoot out, and they let a roamer standing outside shoot in, so a barred window next to your sleeping bag or your loot boxes is still a hole. Keep the gear away from it, or cover it with something solid.
| Window cover | Bench | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Wooden bars | None | The first hours of a wipe |
| Metal bars | Level 1 | Most windows, most of the wipe |
| Strengthened glass | Level 2 | Seeing out with no gaps |
| Reinforced glass | Level 3 | Top tier, built against projectiles |
So the order is simple. Swap the wooden bars for these as soon as the first bench stands, and later move the windows that face trouble up to glass or an embrasure.
