Overview
A hatch that opens and changes into a ladder.
Square hatches do not fit triangle floor frames, and plenty of compact bases put their way up on triangles. So if your roof access or the climb to your shooting floor runs through one, this piece closes it. Shut, it is floor. Open, it folds down into a ladder.
The recipe matches the square ladder hatch exactly: a Level 2 workbench, 300 metal fragments, three gears and a wooden ladder, plus 60 scrap to learn. That last part adds up. Most bases only need one shape, so check your floor frames before you research both.
Picture a small base with a triangle core and the roof access right at the top. A plain floor seals you in, and an empty frame lets anyone on the roof straight down. The hatch sits between the two: you pop up, look around for campers, drop back and close it behind you. Once your floors go armoured, the armoured triangle ladder hatch takes over the same frame, because a cheap hatch in a strong floor is where raiders on your roof aim first.
