Flame Turret

A fuel-fed turret that sprays fire at anyone not on your TC. Cheap to research, nasty in a tight corridor, and only as good as the fuel you leave in it.

Overview

In-game description
Automated Flame turret. Requires Low Grade Fuel. Sprays flames when triggered.

Fire in a tight corridor is what you are paying for. Put this turret around a corner inside your base, and a raider who just blew the door walks straight into a cone of flame. It ignores anyone authorized on your Tool Cupboard, so your group can walk past it.

It runs on low grade fuel instead of electricity, which keeps it working when your power is down. The price is upkeep: each burst eats some fuel, and an empty turret is decoration. The parts you will actually hunt for are two empty propane tanks; the rest is metal on a Level 1 bench, after 30 scrap of research.

Watch out

Raiders who know it bait it. They step into its reach, back off and repeat until the tank runs dry, or they shoot it from outside its range. Refill after every attack and back it up with a shotgun trap covering the same room.

Its reach is short, so one standing in the middle of a big open room does little. Corners, stairwells and narrow airlocks suit it best.
