RF Receiver

The listening end of every remote setup in a base: it passes power on when its frequency fires. Useless without a power feed of its own.

Overview

In-game description
An RF Receiver

Anything you want to switch on from a distance goes through one of these. The receiver sits in your wiring like a gate: power comes in, and it only goes out the other side when a signal on its frequency arrives, from a handheld RF transmitter or a static broadcaster.

  1. Run power into it with the wire tool: a battery, a panel or a small generator all work.
  2. Look at it, press E and type in the frequency your group agreed on.
  3. Wire the output to whatever should react: lights, a door controller, a siren.
  4. Test it from outside with the remote before you trust it.

Picture riding home after dark with a bag full of sulfur. One click from the road and the compound lights come on, so you can see whether someone is waiting by the gate before you get off the horse.

Give each job its own number. Lights on one frequency, the garage door on another, so a missed click does not open the door when you only wanted to look. And keep the numbers inside the group: anyone transmitting on your frequency triggers the receiver just as well as you do.

Recycling a computer station also hands one back, since the station is built from a receiver and a broadcaster.

Raid cost

Direct hit, hard side, no duds. Beancan Grenade is a dud 15% of the time. Satchel Charge is a dud 20% of the time. A range runs from point blank to the far end of the bullet's falloff, fired from an Assault Rifle.
