Small Generator

The first power source most bases build: it burns low grade fuel and puts out 40 power by its own text. Simple and steady, as long as someone keeps it fed.

Overview

In-game description
A small electric generator powered by Low Grade Fuel that outputs 40 power.

Fuel goes in, power comes out, day or night, wind or no wind. That predictability is why the first auto turret of most wipes hangs off one of these. Its own text says it outputs 40 power and the turret's text asks for 10, so one generator runs it with room left for lights or a second consumer.

The trade is the fuel. It burns low grade fuel, the same fuel lanterns, chainsaws and boats run on, and as far as players know it keeps burning while switched on, whether anything draws power or not. A generator forgotten in the on position is empty by morning.

Tip

Wire it into a large rechargeable battery and feed the base from the battery. Switch the generator on to top the battery up, then off again, and the turret keeps working for a good while without fuel burning the whole time.

Crafting one takes a Level 2 bench, two gears and some high quality metal. Once panels or a turbine are up, plenty of groups keep the generator for raid nights, when a battery running low is the last thing you want.
