Characteristics
Overview
This allows you to craft and unlock items requiring workbench level 1
Every gun, every metal door and every serious blueprint starts at this bench. Without it you are stuck with stone tools, a bow and whatever the barrels hand you. With it the first real crafts open up, and so does the research table, which wants a Level 1 bench too.
It costs 500 wood and 100 metal fragments and needs no bench of its own, so it goes down on the first evening. A typical wipe day: a small base and a TC, a furnace for the ore you picked up, a road run for barrels, then the bench. Its tech tree takes scrap and hands you blueprints for things you have never held, the double barrel and the crossbow among them. The research table works the other way round and learns what you already found.
You can only craft near a bench of the right level, and a higher bench counts for the lower ones. So once a Level 2 workbench stands beside it, this one stays mostly for its own tree.
Tip
If raiders wreck the bench, the blueprints you unlocked stay yours until the wipe ends. You only need a new bench to craft them again, and it costs almost nothing.

Direct hit, hard side, no duds. Satchel Charge is a dud 20% of the time. Beancan Grenade is a dud 15% of the time. A range runs from point blank to the far end of the bullet's falloff, fired from an Assault Rifle.
