Overview
A prison cell wall.
Put bars where you need a view and a wall at once. Each piece drops into a wall frame the way the chainlink fence does, and next to it this is the dearer pick: 150 metal fragments instead of 75, a Level 2 workbench instead of Level 1, and 30 scrap to learn. Players usually treat it as the sturdier of the two, but bars are still not something you trust in a raid.
Two jobs come up again and again. One is a cell: bars on the sides and a prison cell gate as the door, so a cuffed prisoner has nowhere to go and you can still talk to him. The other is a lookout window over your farm or furnace yard, where you want to watch the road without stepping outside.
Watch out
The view runs both ways. Put bars on your loot room and anyone on the next hill counts your boxes and knows which wall to blow.
