Overview
A gate which allows power to flow while a player is standing on it
Step on it and the line goes live; step off and it dies. No hand on a key, no code, and no idea who is standing on it. Everything a pad is good for comes from those three facts.
The sneaky use is in the loot room. Lay a pad just inside its door and wire it into a smart alarm: while you are offline, nobody but a raider stands there, and the moment one does, your phone knows. A pad in the corridor that leads to the cupboard works the same way.
The comfortable use is a hands-free inner door. A pad in front of a door with a door controller opens it as you walk up from the farm with a stack of berries. It shuts once you step off, so test the spot before you rely on it.
Watch out
The pad does not check who is on it. Lay one outside the base and any roamer who walks up opens your door.
It is one of the few electrical parts made mostly of wood, plus a set of gears and a metal spring. The recycler gives a chance at both parts back if you rework the circuit later.

Direct hit, hard side, no duds. Satchel Charge is a dud 20% of the time. Beancan Grenade is a dud 15% of the time. A range runs from point blank to the far end of the bullet's falloff, fired from an Assault Rifle.
