Overview
Medium strength door, vulnerable to explosives.
Hang it the moment you have the frags, on every doorway a stranger can reach. It costs 150 metal fragments, needs no workbench and nothing to research, so for almost everyone it is the first real door of the wipe. Fire barely scratches it: once it replaces your wooden door, the guy with a bag of molotovs has to find another target.
A typical first evening: the 2x1 is stone and the furnace has given you 250 frags. That is exactly one door and one code lock, and nothing else those frags buy protects as much.
Pros
Cons
- No bench and nothing to learn, so it is there on day one
- Molotovs and fire do next to nothing to it
- A few satchels open it; even the game text calls it weak to explosives
- Clearly weaker than a garage or armored door, so later it is the wrong door for the loot room
So think of it as the front door and the outer airlock door. Once a Level 2 bench is up, the loot room gets a garage door, which takes noticeably more explosives, and armored doors come later still. Raiders always look for the cheapest hole, and in a stone base that hole is this door, not the wall next to it.
