Characteristics
Overview
Traps fish, place on the shore and load with bait. The more bait loaded the bigger the chance of catching Trout.
Food that keeps coming while you are busy elsewhere. Set the trap in the water by the shore, load it with bait and go farm; when you come back there may be fish waiting inside. It needs no workbench, just wood and a little cloth, so it fits a riverside base on day one.
Bait decides how well it works. Worms and grubs are what the game itself names as bait, and the trap's own description says more bait means a better chance of trout. What you usually pull out is a small trout, which a knife turns into raw fish for the campfire.
Watch out
The trap has no lock. Anyone walking along that river can open it and take the catch, bait included. Place it in sight of your base, not around a bend you never check.
Picture a hut on a river: the deer keep running off and your bow is out of arrows. Two traps in the shallows in front of the door feed you without a single trip out. If you want fish right now, though, sit down with a fishing rod, because the trap is slow.
