Characteristics
Overview
Use the telephone to call other telephones on the island!
Placing one of these gives your base a number. Any other phone on the map can ring it, so the people who are not in your voice channel finally have a way in: buyers for your shop, the clan on the next hill, whoever wants to talk before walking up to your door.
Say you run a vending stall by the road and spend half the evening farming. A stranger who wants more ammo than the machine holds no longer has to camp your door. He dials from his own base or from a Mobile Phone in his pocket, and you pick up once you are home. As far as players know, the phone also takes a cassette, so a line recorded on a short cassette can answer while you are out.
It costs more than the mobile: 100 metal fragments, 50 wood and a piece of tech trash at a Level 1 bench, plus 30 scrap to research, while the mobile needs none at all. What you get for that is a fixed line, not reach. It also seems to want power before it rings, so give it a line from a small rechargeable battery or from your base circuit.

Direct hit, hard side, no duds. Beancan Grenade is a dud 15% of the time. Satchel Charge is a dud 20% of the time. A range runs from point blank to the far end of the bullet's falloff, fired from an Assault Rifle.
