Overview

In-game description
A shoddy piece of leg armor made from roadsigns. Moderate protection from melee and projectiles.

Go up a monument ladder with a roamer walking in underneath, and your legs are the closest thing he can hit. The kilt is for that moment and every other one where the spray goes low: sprinting across a field, hanging on a ladder with nowhere to hide. It goes on over trousers, so your burlap trousers stay on underneath.

It is the cheap half of the set. One of your road signs, ten leather and two sewing kits at a Level 2 bench, and the same 30 scrap to research as the jacket, so most players learn both on one evening. The weak spot is durability: 150 against the jacket's 500. After a few fights your legs are bare while your chest is still covered.

Tip

Take a worn kilt to a repair bench before it breaks. A repair costs a fraction of the recipe, which beats hunting down two more sewing kits.

Later the choice gets harder. Heavy plate pants last far longer but slow every step, and ballistic leg armour asks fifty HQM for the same 150 durability. For roaming, the kilt keeps its place deep into the wipe.
