Overview

In-game description
A shoddy piece of body armor made from simple materials, provides some basic protection from melee and ranged attacks.

Its real job is to carry you through the road run that pays for something better. You leave the base with a spear, crack every barrel on the way to the nearest junction and come home with road signs in your pocket. Somebody with a bow will be working the same road, and the plate takes some of the sting out of his first arrows.

Pros

Cons

  • Twenty cloth and 250 wood, no bench
  • Nothing to research: every player knows the recipe
  • Goes on over a burlap shirt, which stays underneath
  • 75 durability, less than the helmet or the pants of the same set
  • Basic protection by its own text, nothing that stops a rifle
  • That wood is missing from your base afterwards

Next to bone armor it costs wood you are chopping anyway, but the bone suit lasts a little longer. Pick by which stack is bigger after the first hunt.

Two of those signs, some leather and a Level 2 bench later become a road sign jacket with 500 durability. When that happens the wooden plate goes into the recycler, which hands back half the wood.
