Ballistic leg armour

Leg armour the game calls highly protective, but you cannot craft or research it. It only comes from loot and breaks as fast as a road sign kilt.

Overview

In-game description
A pair of ballistic leg armour pieces. worn, used, and a bit grubby, but highly protective.

Nobody aims for legs, and legs get hit all the time. In a messy fight at a monument the spray that misses your chest ends up in your thighs, and that is where this piece earns its keep. The game calls it highly protective. The recipe on this page, fifty high quality metal and eighty cloth at a Level 3 workbench, is not one you can use: the game files say the piece cannot be crafted or researched at all, so every pair comes from loot.

Pros

Cons

  • Highly protective by the game's own text
  • Costs only the fight or crate it came from
  • Recycling a spare pair hands back HQM and cloth
  • Durability 150, the same as a road sign kilt you can learn and rebuild
  • No blueprint at all, so a lost pair is gone until the next lucky crate

The real comparison is the kilt. It comes off a Level 2 bench for leather, one road sign and two sewing kits, and it breaks just as quickly. If you lose kits often, the kilt is the sane default. Heavy plate pants go the other way: superior protection at the cost of movement speed, by their own description. Wear ballistic legs when a pair has landed in your box and the fight is worth the risk.
