Characteristics
Overview
Keep your things in this bamboo barrel. Stores up to 48 items. Cannot be locked.
Use it where a large box would go and a lock would not matter. The barrel holds 48 items, the same as a large wood box, but the game says plainly that it cannot be locked, and that one line decides where it belongs.
Pros
Cons
- Same 48 slots as a large box
- Crafted without a workbench
- Looks at home in a bamboo build
- Takes no lock, so anyone in the room empties it
- Costs more metal fragments and wood than the box
- Cannot be researched
Say you put up a little shed next to your planters for seeds and fertilizer. A barrel there looks right and loses everything to the first roamer through the door, while a box with a code lock at least makes him work for it. Deep inside your core, behind your own doors, the missing lock matters far less, and that is where barrels make sense.
Its recipe matches the wicker barrel and the other storage barrels exactly, so you choose between them by look alone.

Direct hit, hard side, no duds. Beancan Grenade is a dud 15% of the time. Satchel Charge is a dud 20% of the time. A range runs from point blank to the far end of the bullet's falloff, fired from an Assault Rifle.
Recycling
At power grid stage 2 a green recycler works at 60% instead of 50%. Yields depend on the recycler.
