Throw wood into the furnace along with the sulfur ore. Every gun powder craft takes more charcoal than sulfur, and a beancan raid runs dry on charcoal long before the sulfur node behind your base is gone. Groups that farm only sulfur end up with a full box and an empty powder queue.
The numbers line up neatly here. Powder comes out in batches that divide evenly into a grenade, so nothing is left over, and a full stack of beancans is exactly one satchel. Craft them in fours and tie them up right away: loose beancans in a box are a satchel waiting for its rope.
Few blueprints open raiding this cheaply from a Level 1 workbench, so it tends to be among the first blueprints a fresh group learns; the gun powder it eats is known from the start. For a fight, craft something else. An F1 grenade takes half the powder and goes off when you expect it to.
