Characteristics
Overview
Sulfur is commonly used in gunpowder, medicine, and matches. Matches release sulfur dioxide when they burn, giving them their smell. Sulfur is an essential component to living cells. Many proteins contain sulfur. It is also used as a pesticide on organic farms.
Count your sulfur and you know how big a raid you can afford. Nearly all of it goes one way: into gun powder, mixed with charcoal at a Level 1 bench. A small share skips that step and goes straight into incendiary and explosive ammo.
- Smelt sulfur ore in a furnace and keep the charcoal the burnt wood leaves behind.
- Craft gunpowder: 20 sulfur and 30 charcoal give ten.
- At a Level 3 bench, gunpowder plus a little more sulfur, frags and low grade fuel make explosives.
- Explosives go into C4 and rockets, the tools that open stone and metal.
So even a beancan and satchel raid at the start of a wipe spends sulfur, just far less efficiently. Reaching Level 3 is what turns a pile of sulfur into real raid power.
The stash is a target as well. Raiders go for sulfur and gunpowder before anything else, so do not keep it all in one box behind one door. Split it between boxes deep in the base, as close to the TC as you can.
