Characteristics
Overview
A ballista mounted on wheels, designed for mobility and capable of firing bolts at distant targets. Can be towed by horses.
Wheels are the whole point. The fixed ballista guards one approach to your own base; this one goes where the fight is. You tow it out, set it up facing a target, shoot, and move on before the other side organises. The recipe and the bench are identical, so the choice is simply whether you want to hold ground or travel.
On a raid, hammerhead bolts are the load: their text says they are built to hammer through doors. Against anything that drives, switch to piercer bolts, made for armoured vehicles. Say a team runs an armoured car full of loot along the road below your ridge every evening. That is the target this ballista exists for.
Pros
Cons
- Goes wherever a horse can drag it
- Takes the full set of bolts, from doors to vehicles
- No sulfur in it or in its ammo
- Slow to move once the shooting starts
- The crew stands in the open next to it
- Hard to take far without a horse and saddle
For towing, a double saddle earns its extra cost: the second seat carries someone who can shoot back while the rider drives, and a horse pulling a ballista outruns nobody.

Direct hit, hard side, no duds. Satchel Charge is a dud 20% of the time. Beancan Grenade is a dud 15% of the time. A range runs from point blank to the far end of the bullet's falloff, fired from an Assault Rifle.
