Characteristics
Overview
A horse saddle with one seat. Having this item allows you to claim a horse in a stable by holding E and selecting the "Claim" option
No saddle, no horse. Walk into a stable with this one in your inventory, hold E on the animal you want and pick Claim: that is how its own game text puts it.
Getting one is the hard part. The row lists road signs and sewing kits, but the saddle cannot be crafted or researched at all: it only comes from loot or a trade. So when one turns up, keep it for whoever rides the most.
Picture a solo on day two who wants the crates at a monument on the far side of the map. On foot that is a long walk through open ground, twice. On a horse it is a short ride, and trouble on the road is much easier to leave behind. Play as a duo and the double horse saddle carries both of you, though it cannot be crafted either.
Once you ride, basic horse shoes are the cheap next buy, and a hitch and trough at home keeps the horse fed between sessions. The saddle stays on the animal, so a dead horse costs you the saddle as well. It is also enough to tow a catapult up to someone's walls.
Recycling
At power grid stage 2 a green recycler works at 60% instead of 50%. Yields depend on the recycler.
