Overview

In-game description
A full body armor for a horse. Provides strong protection for you and your steed, at the cost of greatly reduced movement speed.

Armour a horse when it has to stand in a fight, not when it has to run from one. The game text promises strong protection for rider and animal, and in the same sentence a greatly reduced movement speed. On the horse you use to outrun roamers, that trade is backwards.

Where it fits: your group tows a mounted ballista up to a neighbour's compound. A horse pulling a siege engine was never going to be fast, it stands in the open beside the target, and it is the first thing the defenders shoot to leave you on foot. Plate it, and your ride home has a chance.

Pros

Cons

  • Strong protection for horse and rider, by its own text
  • The same four road signs and two sewing kits as a single saddle
  • 60 scrap of research, fair for a group
  • Greatly reduced speed, so no escapes
  • Needs a Level 2 workbench
  • Four signs is more than your own jacket and kilt take together

For lighter work, wooden horse armor costs wood and rope at a Level 1 bench, with moderate protection and a smaller hit to speed. The site also lists a second Roadsign Horse Armor under an event shortname; its row is identical to this one.
