Overview

In-game description
An oxygen tank that enables breathing under water for a period of time. Can be refilled at a workbench or repair bench.

Your lungs hold enough to grab a crate just under the surface. Anything deeper, the seabed crates or an underwater lab, needs this on your back. It feeds you air until it runs dry, and the game shows what is left as its condition, so the 600 durability in the row is really your oxygen.

The habit that saves a trip is refilling. The game text says a workbench or a repair bench tops it up, so an empty tank is not trash. Do not throw it in the recycler for a bit of high quality metal when one stop at the bench makes it full again.

  1. Before you leave base, check the tank's bar in your inventory and refill it if it is not full.
  2. Put it on with the mask and fins, plus a wetsuit if the dive happens at night.
  3. Turn back at half air, because the way out takes as long as the way in.

You cannot craft a replacement: the row lists six HQM and a hundred frags, but the game files say the tank cannot be crafted or researched, so every one comes from loot. When the run is long, look at the double diving tank or a diver propulsion vehicle to cut the swim.

Recycling

Recycler

At power grid stage 2 a green recycler works at 60% instead of 50%. Yields depend on the recycler.
