Pumpkin

Its own description admits you can wear it as a hat. Try it once on a fresh spawn for the laugh, but nothing in the text says it protects you, so it stays a vegetable on your head. The real uses are eating it, baking it and carving it.

Raw, it gives a small boost to health, hunger and thirst with no fire needed, which keeps a builder going through a long evening of walls. Baked into a pumpkin pie it does more: the pie also raises your maximum health for a short time, and before a fight that is worth far more than a raw snack.

Then comes October. Say your clan wants a row of lanterns along the wall and a stack of pies for the weekend raid, all from the same planter. A carvable pumpkin takes one, while the pre-carved angry jack o'lantern and its happy twin take two each. Recycling them later returns only some of the pumpkins, so count before you carve.

The first few come from wild plants, along with pumpkin seeds. Once a strong plant shows up in a box, cut clones from it and let those carry the farm.
