Yellow Perch

Rivers, not the sea. Its own text places the yellow perch in freshwater rivers, which makes it the fish for whoever built in the middle of the map, a long way from any beach or pier.

There is a quieter reason to fish for it, too. Hunting usually means a fight, and gunshots tell every roamer nearby where you are. A handmade fishing rod and a few worms make no such noise. Say a big clan lives two grids away and you would rather they forgot about you: sit on the bank below your walls, pull up a few perch, and nobody hears dinner being made.

Ten whole fish fit in a slot. Gut them with a knife into raw fish before the walk back, then choose between the fire for tonight and a fish pie at the Cooking Workbench, which its own text says lifts base comfort for a short time.
