Place on a door to prevent unwelcome guests. You can create a key to share with your friends, don't let it fall in the wrong hands!
Fresh wipe, a small wooden 2x1, a wooden door and not one metal fragment to your name. That is when this lock earns its place. It costs only wood, needs no bench and stops the next naked with a rock from walking in and emptying your box.
It opens with a door key that you make from the lock itself, one for every person who needs to get in. Whoever holds a key opens the door, and that is the whole problem. Keys live in inventories, inventories drop on death, and a roamer who kills you and checks your pockets can walk straight to your base.

So treat it as a stopgap. As soon as you have a hundred metal fragments, swap it for a code lock, which nobody can take off your corpse. Until then, leave the spare key with a teammate instead of carrying both.
