Overview
A Coffee Can Helmet. It provides a level of regional protection from inflicted damage.
Half the server wears one of these from the evening the Level 2 benches go up. You peek a rock at Airfield with a semi-auto, the other guy peeks back, and the can is what turns his headshot into a fight you can still win. Sixty frags, fifteen cloth and a single sewing kit at a Level 2 workbench, and 30 scrap to research.
Pros
Cons
- Clearly better against bullets than a bucket helmet
- Cheap to research and cheap to lose
- The recycler returns a good part of the frags
- Durability 200, no more than the bucket
- Crafting a sewing kit yourself needs a Level 3 workbench, so early on it comes from loot
- Covers less of your head than a metal facemask
The next step is the facemask, and it is a real jump: a Level 3 bench, 120 scrap, leather and high quality metal. Plenty of groups never get there on a short wipe and fight in coffee cans to the end. Keep two spares in a box by the door, because a fresh helmet costs less than the loot you drop without one.
