Overview
A Chainsaw. Very effective at cutting trees in addition to soft fleshy objects. Requires Low Grade Fuel to run.
You build it for one job: wood in bulk. Your group runs a row of furnaces through the night, they eat wood faster than anyone can carry it in, and somebody has to cut. A chainsaw brings a tree down far faster than anything you swing, and you hold the trigger instead of timing hits.
The price comes up front. You need a Level 2 workbench, six metal blades, high quality metal and gears, plus a stock of low grade fuel to run it. Fuel is cheap, but an empty tank in the middle of a forest leaves you holding an expensive lump of metal.
Pros
Cons
- Far quicker on trees than any axe
- No swing timing, just hold and cut
- Hurts anyone who walks into it
- Burns fuel the whole time it runs
- Durability of 100 against 500 on the Salvaged Axe
- Does nothing on stone or ore nodes
- Loud, so everyone nearby knows where you are
The Salvaged Axe is the patient choice: same bench, cheaper, no fuel, and it lasts far longer. Plenty of groups farm with the axe day to day and bring the saw out for a big wood run.
