Overview
Purple signal smoke. Use to mark a location for an airdrop.
Pop it where you want an airdrop. The purple smoke marks the spot, a cargo plane flies over and a crate comes down on a parachute. You cannot craft it; signals turn up in loot, so most players sit on theirs until the moment is right.
The moment matters, because the smoke and the plane are a beacon for everyone around. Thrown in an open field at peak time, it is an invitation. Throw it next to your base, where your walls cover the landing, and put someone on the roof with a bolt action rifle or at least binoculars to see who turns up.
Do not mix it up with a smoke grenade. Grey smoke hides you, purple smoke announces you. And if the server is busy tonight, leave it in a box: it does not spoil, and on a quiet evening later it is a free drop.
