Overview
A high-yield resource gathering axe. Slower than the Hatchet.
Long wood runs are where it earns its slot. The game says it plainly: high yield, slower than the Hatchet. Each hit takes longer, so on a quick roam it feels sluggish. But when your group needs a mountain of wood for charcoal before a sulfur cook, the extra from every swing adds up.
Pros
Cons
- More wood per hit than any hatchet
- 500 durability against the hatchet's 400
- Recycles back into some of its metal blades
- Slower swing, which you feel in a fight or on a short trip
- Needs a Level 2 workbench and 60 scrap to research
- Five blades and a metal pipe are a real cost early on
Its twin for rocks is the Salvaged Icepick, with the same recipe. Blades come out of road barrels, so one road run often pays for both. Past this point the only step up for wood is the chainsaw, which is quicker still but burns low grade fuel.
