Eight parts sit in this upgrade, more than in any other: five gears and three metal springs, plus scrap. None of that can buy one, because the upgrade can't be crafted or researched. Every Surplus upgrade is loot or a trade, and the calculator only says what it is worth.
The recycler turns it into a sure thing. The ordinary one returns two gears and one spring, each with a coin flip on one more, and no scrap. That is half the gears of an armored door and a start on the springs of an AK.
Fitted, it gives each craft at that bench a chance to throw out a surplus part for special alternate recipes. Our data lists neither the parts nor those recipes yet, so nobody can price that side of the bet here. Keep it for a bench that crafts big batches every night once doors and guns are covered. Until then, the parts do more out of the recycler.
