Water Barrel

One tarp and 250 wood, no bench. Cheap on paper, but that tarp could be a planter, so build the barrel once a catcher has water to hand it.

About this craft

A barrel stores water; it makes none. So it is the last tarp in a water line, never the first. A small water catcher takes a tarp and the large catcher a pair, and a barrel with no catcher feeding it is a tarp parked in a wooden tank.

The wood is the bigger number on the bill and the smaller problem. What you are really deciding is where the tarp goes: into a small planter for a few more plants, or into the barrel that keeps a row of planters wet while you roam. With one or two boxes, the planter wins. With a row of them and a catcher on the roof, the barrel pays for itself.

The blueprint costs little scrap and needs no bench. As with every tarp recipe, the unfolded calculator shows cloth at a Level 2 bench, yet tarps only ever come from loot, the recycler and trades.
