Characteristics
Overview
An internal weapon mod which compresses and directs gasses used for cycling the weapon to the barrel, effectively increasing projectile velocity and damage at the expense of cycle rate.
Pick it for a gun you shoot one careful round at a time. Say you are on a ridge above the road with an SKS, tagging a roamer who is sprinting for the treeline. You are not clicking at the gun's limit anyway, so a slower cycle costs you little, while a faster, harder-hitting bullet turns more of those taps into hits.
It is the mirror image of the Muzzle Boost. The boost cycles the gun faster and pays in accuracy; this mod slows the cycle and pays you back in velocity and damage. Both cost ten high quality metal at a Level 2 bench, so choose by how the gun is fired, not by price. And because it sits inside the gun, the muzzle stays free for a silencer or a brake.
That is also why it rarely belongs on an Assault Rifle you clear doorways with. Up close, rounds per second win the fight, and you just gave some away. Semi-autos like the M39 are where most players try it.
Tip
A faster bullet drops less and needs less lead on a moving target, so the gain shows at the edge of your range, not in a corridor.
