Overview
Increases weapon fire rate by channeling gasses back into the weapon cycling it faster, at the cost of bullet accuracy.
Fit it when the fights you expect happen at arm's length. Say your base is getting raided and you hold the stairs behind a garage door with a Thompson. Nobody is further away than the next landing, so a wider spread costs you almost nothing, and more bullets per second win the peek. Out in the open the same trade turns ugly fast, because the extra rounds miss.
The game sells it as fire rate bought with accuracy. Its two neighbours make the other trades:
| Mod | You gain | You pay | Slot |
|---|---|---|---|
| Muzzle Boost | fire rate | accuracy | muzzle |
| Muzzle brake | less recoil | some damage and accuracy | muzzle |
| Gas compression overdrive | damage and bullet speed | fire rate | internal |
So the boost and the overdrive pull in opposite directions. Pick the one that matches your gun's job instead of hoping they cancel out. Many players run the boost on a Custom SMG for base defense. It also empties the magazine sooner, so carry more ammo than you think you need.
It needs a Level 2 workbench and costs the same high quality metal as the overdrive.
