Next to the plain sunglasses the rows match almost field for field: thirty metal fragments, no bench, the same frags back from a recycler. The one difference is the blueprint. Every player can craft the plain pair from the start. The purple pair's blueprint is tied to owning the item on Steam, so there is nothing to research and a looted one teaches you nothing.
Wear them for the colour on a quiet day at the base. Neither text promises protection, so they change nothing when the shooting starts. Never got the drop? The plain pair looks almost the same on you.
Recycling
At power grid stage 2 a green recycler works at 60% instead of 50%. Yields depend on the recycler.
