Characteristics
Overview
A very sharp curved cutting weapon. While its traditional role was to cut grass, this tool is also extremely versatile at cutting throats, perhaps trees, too.
File it under weapons in your head: it is a melee blade that landed in the wrong drawer. The game calls it a cutting weapon and only jokes about grass and trees, and nothing about it hints at a hidden job. You cannot craft or research it either: every sickle comes from loot or a trade, and the recycler turns a spare into metal fragments.
Set it next to the machete and the trade is plain. The machete is a cheap craft anyone can make, the sickle is whatever luck hands you, and it carries 400 durability, twice the machete's. How hard it hits and how far it reaches are not in the data, so judge those in your first fight.
Pros
Cons
- Free when it drops: no frags spent.
- Twice the durability of the machete.
- A spare recycles into frags.
- You cannot craft a new one when it breaks.
- It cannot be researched either.
- Trees still go to a hatchet, whatever the game text hints.
Where it fits: a few road runs in, a crate hands you a sickle, your salvaged sword just broke and there is no blade in stock. Swing the sickle until it breaks, then go back to what you can craft.
Recycling
At power grid stage 2 a green recycler works at 60% instead of 50%. Yields depend on the recycler.
