Characteristics
Overview
These potato seeds can be planted in the ground and grown to collect additional food. Planting these seeds in a planter, and then watering them with large quantities of water yields significantly more potatoes and faster growth.
Plant them where only your group can reach. A seed grows anywhere you push it into the ground, but a potato in the field outside your base belongs to whoever is standing there when it ripens, and roamers do look.
The seed's own text gives the second reason to bring the farm indoors: in a planter, watered with large quantities of water, you get significantly more potatoes and faster growth. So the farm room wins twice. A small planter box behind a door is safer and grows more than any patch of dirt.
Watch out
Seeds pushed into the ground beside a starter base on day one feel free. Then you come back from a roam to an empty patch and a naked with a rock has your dinner in his pocket. Plant in the ground only when you have no box at all.
Water is the other half. Early on a water bucket filled at the river does it, and a small water catcher on the roof takes over once you build one. When the first bed has grown, inspect the plants and switch to clones of the best one. The potatoes themselves go straight into your stomach.
