Overview
A red berry. Can be eaten or used in mixing table recipes to create teas.
Stash the first handful instead of eating it. Red berries go into teas at the Mixing Table, as the berry's own text says, but on day one nobody owns that table yet. It needs a Level 1 workbench plus 200 metal fragments and 100 stones, so for the first evening a red berry is only a snack, and a small one. Which tea it ends up in depends on the recipe you pick there.
Picture the first night. You stripped a red bush on the way back from the road, your hunger bar is fine, and the berries sit in your inventory. Eat them now and they are gone in one bite. Drop them in the box by your sleeping bag and they wait there for the day the table goes down.
The same bushes often hand you a red berry seed or two as well. Guard those even more: they start a bed, and a bed keeps the table busy long after the wild bushes around your base are picked clean. Once one plant grows well, its clones take over.
