Overview
A Pickaxe, useful for gathering ore from rocks.
Once a Level 1 workbench is down, this is the first thing worth spending 125 frags on. Every node gives noticeably more metal ore and sulfur ore than it did with a stone pick, and metal rocks hand over a bit of high quality metal ore as well.
Thirty scrap puts it in your blueprints for the rest of the wipe. Do that early, because then a roamer who takes your pick costs you frags and nothing else.
Pros
Cons
- Needs only a Level 1 bench
- 400 durability, four times the stone pickaxe
- Cheap research, so you keep crafting it all wipe
- 125 metal fragments is a real price on day one
- The salvaged icepick gets more out of each node once you reach a Level 2 bench
Most people craft it on the same trip as the hatchet, since both sit on the same bench and cost frags and wood. From then on the loop is simple: wood on the way out, stone and sulfur on the way home, and a stop at the furnace before you log off.
