Overview
A jar of honey. Good for reducing hunger and radiation, or could be saved for recipes. The source of the glass jar is a mystery.
You eat it when you are hungry and carrying a little radiation, or you turn it into bandages. The game text lists both effects, and a jar comes from cooking honeycomb in a furnace, so it is one of the few foods you farm at home that also clears rads.
Picture walking back from a low-radiation monument with an empty stomach and the dose still showing on your screen. A jar or two on the way home fixes the hunger and takes some of the radiation off. After a heavy dose it is no stand-in for anti-radiation pills, but those come out of crates, and honey comes out of your own beehive.
The other road is the medical honey bandage, which eats two jars per craft. For a solo without bees that is a steep price, and the honey does more in your stomach. A group with a few hives running ends up with more honey than it can eat, and then bandages are the better use. Spare ones can even go into the recycler, and honey comes back out.
The text also says to save it for recipes. Which ones is not shown on this page, so look before you eat the whole stack.
