Overview
A medium quality crankshaft for a combustion engine. Converts piston movement into rotational motion.
If your group drives at all, this is the crankshaft to make on the day the Level 2 workbench goes up. It does the same job as every crankshaft, turning piston movement into rotation, at a middle price.
Pros
Cons
- 70 metal fragments, well under the 120 a high one costs
- Durability 100, against 60 on the low tier
- Matches medium quality pistons, which cost the same and need the same bench
- Not the top tier, so a car on full high parts will pull away from yours
- Recycles into fragments only, so a spare one is no source of scrap
A typical moment for it: a three-module car built on an engine module keeps chewing through low parts on the runs to Outpost. Upgrade the crankshaft and pistons together on a modular car lift, then wait for Level 3 before you think about the high quality crankshaft. Until then, medium is the sensible ceiling for a car you drive every day.

Recycling
At power grid stage 2 a green recycler works at 60% instead of 50%. Yields depend on the recycler.
