Overview
Medium quality pistons for a combustion engine. Pistons convert expanding combustion gases into the motion that turns a crankshaft.
Upgrade to these once the car is something you use every day, not a lucky find. A group that runs farm trips or a road loop in the same car wears its engine parts down, and the middle tier is the cheapest step towards parts that last.
The rows of the three tiers say it better than words:

So medium costs almost three times the frags of low for about two thirds more durability. The real gate is the Level 2 workbench, and most groups have one by the time they own a car anyway. Better parts also give the engine more power, but the item data does not say how much, so try it on your own car.
Pistons come in sets, and the big engine module takes more of them than the small engine in a cockpit with engine. Price the whole set before you start crafting.
